The State Licensing Board for General Contractors was created through legislation enacted in 1935. The Board licenses and regulates commercial/industrial contractors in the major and specialty classifications that constitute the industry. Currently, there are more than 10,000 general contractors licensed to work in the state. 		520

The Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors was established to protect the public by helping to safeguard life, health and property, and to promote the public welfare by providing for the licensing and regulation of persons in the practices of engineering and land surveying. This purpose is achieved through the establishment of minimum qualifications for entry into the professions of engineering and land surveying, through the adoption of rules defining and delineating unlawful or unethical conduct, and through swift and effective discipline for those individuals or entities who violate the applicable laws or rules. 		560
5   Link   Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board
The Home Builders Licensure Board was created to protect the public from unqualified, incompetent and dishonest home building contractors and remodelers who provide inadequate, unsafe or inferior building services. The Board established a recovery fund from which an aggrieved party may recover up to $20,000 as the direct result of the conduct of a licensee in violation of the home builders licensure law. The Board may also revoke or suspend the license of any licensee who has committed fraud or deceit in obtaining a required license or who has been guilty of gross negligence, incompetence or misconduct in the practice of residential home building. 		487

On the Alabama Electrical Contractors Board website you will be able to access license records to see if an Electrical Contractor or Journeyman Electrician is currently licensed, obtain forms to apply for licensure for Electrical Contractor or Journeyman Electrician and obtain copies of the law and rules and regulations.
